B and B creations is a family owned creative endeavor. Our pottery creations are both practical and decorative, and each is a unique piece, produced by hand in our own workshop in the forests of Lyman, New Hampshire. We sell our pieces at a variety of craft shows and at the Lisbon Art Gallery. We also show select items at the WREN gallery in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, and the Purple Peacock on Main Street in Littleton, New Hampshire.
About the Artist:
Janice Balog grew up in New England, but her early years were anything but art centered. She read encyclopedias for fun in middle school and joined the Math Team in high school, Janice was a perfect science geek.
After earning a B.S. in Animal Science at Purdue, earned a M.S. in Animal and Veterinary Science at the URI. One final stay at Purdue earned her a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology. A job in Arkansas with USDA/ARS was the perfect opportunity for Janice to indulge in her passion for scientific research in poultry production and diseases. Janice soon became an international expert in the field of poultry right ventricular hypertrophy (ascites). Then an exciting career of more than 13 years came to a crashing halt when Janice contracted a severe poultry fungal disease and was forced to retire and move from the area. In 2005, Janice and her family moved to Lyman, NH. Retirement did not suit Janice well, but she took a pottery class at the Littleton Studio School, and she found a new passion. It was a difficult transition of analytical scientist to artist potter, but she has become a scientific potter.
Janice’s husband, Paul Benoit is a geochemist with a Ph.D. in Geology from Lehigh University. He is particularly adept at formulating and making glazes for Janice’s pottery creations. So we get to work together on all of our B & B Creations!
